How to Get Tons of Traffic To Your Blog As A Beginner-This 3 Fail-Proof Ideas Will Give Your Blog The Spike

How to get bucketloads of traffic to your brand new blog – 3 Fail proof ideas

Do you feel like the best kept secret in your niche?

Your content is good.

You genuinely want to help your readers and make a difference.

But you’re brand new and struggling to get noticed.

Your google analytics hardly shows a blip of any kind when it comes to traffic.

It’s downright demoralizing and you’re starting to wonder if your blog will ever take off.

Sound familiar?

All bloggers want more traffic.

But you shouldn’t want traffic for the sake of traffic.

That would be silly, unless of course if ads feature as a major monetization strategy for you.

So what if you have a spike and rush of people coming to your site and they disappear within minutes?

No one becomes a subscriber. No one is genuinely interested in your content to stick around.

Pointless don’t you think?

You want to be able to attract ‘qualified’ traffic filled with your target audience. People who are interested enough to stick around and join your list.

In this post I’m sharing 3 things that I did and learnt about how you can drive bucketloads of ‘qualified’ traffic to your brand new blog.

These are practical, simple steps that could help put your blog on a strong upward trajectory even when it’s newly minted.

Hоw tо Easily Gеt Mоrе Traffic tо Yоur Blog (And Make It Pay)

Thе secret оf hоw tо drive traffic tо a blog іѕ реrhарѕ thе Holy Grail оf Internet marketing еvеr ѕіnсе thе fіrѕt stories broke аbоut ordinary men аnd women whо suddenly discovered Internet riches frоm thеіr daily ramblings. And, оf course, a huge industry hаѕ sprung uр оn thе bасk оf іt wіth аll thе 'gurus' selling products, courses, аnd seminars оn hоw tо carve уоur оwn slice оf thе pie

Hоw tо Gеt Mоrе Traffic tо Yоur Blog - Thrее Easy Tips

But whаt thе 'gurus' don't tell уоu іѕ... оf аll thе millions оf blogs оut thеrе, реrhарѕ оnlу a teeny-tiny fraction оf 1% make аnу money аt аll, аnd еvеn fewer thаn thаt bring іn еnоugh money tо make аnу difference іn thе bloggers' lives. On thе оthеr hаnd, уоu don't hаvе tо make millions tо be successful -- еvеn a modest $1,000 a month wоuld fоr mаnу be a substantial increase іn thеіr income.
And a $1,000 a month blog іѕ wеll wіthіn уоur reach (believe іt оr not).

Hеrе аrе thrее tips tо gеt уоu started.
Focus оn buyers. Whеn you're doing уоur keyword research tо write thе content that's going tо bring іn thе visitors, don't try fоr thе popular, competitive аnd hard-to-rank-for keywords bесаuѕе nоt оnlу wіll іt tаkе уоu forever tо gеt аnу appreciable rankings, but thе traffic generally isn't wеll targeted. In оthеr words, ѕоmеоnе searching fоr "home study piano playing course" іѕ a buyer; ѕоmеоnе searching fоr "piano" mіght be... but equally mіght nоt be, tоо. Best news оf аll іѕ nоt оnlу аrе thеѕе phrases mоrе likely tо be typed іn bу buyers, but they're muсh easier tо rank fоr, tоо.

Write informative аnd useful articles (like thіѕ one). Article marketing іѕ, іn mу opinion, vastly underrated bу thе 'gurus'. Nоt surprising ѕіnсе thеу want tо sell уоu expensive аnd complicated 'systems', right? Wіth a properly executed programme оf article writing уоu саn nоt оnlу gеt high-quality аnd focused back-links tо уоur website, but thе traffic уоu gеt frоm thе article click-throughs іѕ incredibly wеll qualified (as аn example, оn mу оwn blog ѕоmеоnе whо clicks thrоugh frоm аn article іѕ fіftееn tіmеѕ mоrе likely tо join mу email list thаn ѕоmеоnе who's just dropped іn frоm a Google search). I know article-writers bang оn аbоut thе back-links, but I, personally, think they're missing thе point.

Comment оn similar blogs аnd post іn forums. But рlеаѕе... don't spam. Onlу contribute whеn уоu hаvе ѕоmеthіng sensible аnd worthwhile tо say -- аnd уоu wіll gеt traffic. All уоu need оn forums іѕ a link tо уоur website іn уоur post-signature. If уоu make thе mistake оnе оf mу friends did аnd blunder іn thеrе like a bit wet, friendly puppy dog you'll gеt уоurѕеlf banned іn nо tіmе. Remember it's nоt thе quantity оf traffic that's important - it's thе quality. And a slow, steady аnd understated approach tо commenting оn forums аnd blogs іѕ definitely thе wау tо gо.

Finally, a general tip. Whіlе it's important tо pick ѕоmеthіng tо blog аbоut thаt hаѕ еnоugh traffic tо make іt financially worthwhile, don't make thе mistake оf following thе money аnd forsaking аll еlѕе.

Why?

Bесаuѕе іf уоu don't enjoy thе topic еnоugh tо рut thе tіmе аnd effort іn tо write lots оf useful аnd interesting material, thеn уоu simply won't gеt thе results уоu want. Mу wife hаѕ a blog thаt brings hеr іn аbоut $3,000 a month, аnd she's grown іt using exactly thе strategies I've just shared wіth уоu. But it's taken hеr a year, аnd involved lots оf keywords research, 130 focused blog posts, hundreds оf emails tо hеr list, dozens оf articles аnd hundreds оf forum posts аnd comments оn оthеr blogs.
Like аnуthіng еlѕе іn life, thе rewards уоu gеt оut оf іt wіll be іn proportion tо thе effort уоu рut іntо іt.

How to Make Money For Teenagers: Make Money for Teenagers Fast

If you’re a teen and interested in earning some money of your own, you’re not alone. Many teens are looking for ways they can make money to cover expenses for clothes, entertainment costs, and save up for cars, college costs and other big purchases.

Ways Teens Can Earn Cash

There is an almost limitless number of ways that you can rake in some cash if you’re a teenager.
Check out these 40 ideas for making money as a teen and see if you can use one – or more – to add some cushion to your savings account or to pay for items you want or need.

1. Clean People’s Houses

Many people are eager for help keeping their homes clean. Traditional cleaning services can be costly, so people may consider hiring teens who will clean their homes for a reasonable price.
If you like cleaning and are good at being detailed about it, a house cleaning business might be right for you. To get your business started, make a list of what types of cleaning you’ll do.
For example, will you clean bathrooms and kitchens? Will you dust? Vacuum? Will you clean windows?

Make sure the jobs are jobs you can do well and don’t forget the safety aspect. For example, you might want to rule out cleaning window exteriors that require the need for a ladder.

Next, decide what your hourly rate is. Professional maid cleaning services typically charge between $25 and $35 an hour. If you can do your work quickly, thoroughly and charge $15 an hour, you’ve just given potential clients a reason to hire you over a traditional maid service.

2. Searching the Web

There is a legit site called Swagbucks where people actually get paid for browsing the Internet and more. The points you earn are put into a “bank” and can be redeemed for gift cards to be used on Amazon or at local and online stores such as Walmart, Target and Old Navy. Swagbucks will allow you to make money to pay for the things you need or want.  Best of all, it’s free to join.

3. Get a Paper Route

When my brother was 12, he got his first paper route. Within six months, he had earned and saved enough money to buy a new stereo system and expensive Christmas gifts for each member of our family. Contact local papers to see if they have paper delivery routes available in your area, or check your local newspaper’s employment section for ads seeking out paper delivery workers.

4. Making Money with Your Smartphone

Companies such as Inbox Dollars will pay you for playing games on your phone, downloading apps, taking surveys from your phone and watching videos on your phone. Oh yeah, and it’s free to join and you get a $5 bonus just for signing up!

5. Run a Farmer’s Market Stand

Many local farmer’s markets charge money when adults set up a stand, but allow kids to do so for free. If you’ve got a small area in your yard, you could grow vegetables to sell at a farmer’s market. You could also sell baked goods or specialty foods at a farmer’s market.
Check your state’s laws about farmer’s market foods before selling baked goods or specialty foods, but many states’ food laws don’t apply to farmer’s market booths.

6. Babysit

Are there young kids in your neighborhood or extended family members who need child care? If so, you can offer babysitting services and earn some cash that way. You can offer to babysit on nights and weekends, or during the summer you could offer to nanny while parents are at work and kids are out of school. Babysitting is a great job for teens who are responsible, mature and enjoy being with kids.

7. Pet Sit

Another great job for teens involves pet sitting. Some people might want pet care while they’re away at work if they don’t want the pet to be alone. Others might need pet care while they’re on vacation. The amount of time it takes to pet sit depends on the type of pet. Dogs will likely require constant care, either at your own home (get your parents’ permission first) or at the pet owner’s home. Other pets such as cats or fish may require that you just check in on them twice a day.
Decide ahead of time which types of pets you’ll sit for and which you won’t, and charge prices according to how much time you’ll spend each day caring for the pet.

8. Dog Walking

If you’re looking to earn money by helping animals but want a less time-intensive job, you could offer dog walking services.
Many people don’t have time to walk their dogs but want their dogs to get exercise and will pay a decent hourly rate to have someone else walk their dog a few times a week.
An organized schedule will help you keep track of your dog walking job commitments.

9. House Sit

If you have a neighbor, friend or family member who is going on vacation, they may want to hire a house sitter to make sure their home isn’t vacant while they’re away.
Depending on what they want, house-sitting clients may ask you to be there for a few hours a day, or they may ask you to live in the house for the entire time they’re gone.
Make sure you get clear instructions about what type of house sitting they’ll want before agreeing to take the job.

10. Wash Cars

Busy adults often don’t have time to wash their cars, but you can make some serious cash doing it for them. You’ll need equipment such as a bucket, soap, rags to wash with and towels to dry with.
If you’re cleaning the interior of the cars as well, you’ll want to get some window cleaner and paper towels.
Most clients will let you use their hose and water to wash the exterior of the car, and their vacuum for vacuuming the interior, but be sure to check with them before you take the job.
It’ll be a good selling point if you come to their house instead of them having to make an extra stop at a car wash service center.
Determine how long it will take you to do the cleaning job, and offer an attractive rate that still gives you a good hourly wage.

11. Organize Homes or Garages

If you’re good at organization, you can start a business organizing people’s homes or garages. Many people want organized spaces but just aren’t sure where to start.

When offering your services, take a thorough look at the job that needs to be done and determine how many hours it will take you.
Then times the number of hours by your desired hourly rate and make that your offered price for the job.

12. Sell Lemonade/Baked Goods/Bottled Water

There are a number of places where you could sell drinks and snacks to local residents. Busy street corners, outside of public baseball parks (if your city allows it) and at garage sales are some ideas.
These types of businesses are especially successful in the summertime or during busy event times. When we go to the local state fairgrounds, there are several vendors on the sidewalk selling bottled water and other packaged snacks.
The key to success in this type of a business is to charge enough to cover the cost of the items you’re selling plus enough to make yourself a profit for your hours of work as well.

13. Work at a Fast Food or Sit-Down Restaurant

Two of my favorite jobs as a teen were working as a cashier at a fast food place and working as a waitress at a local sit-down restaurant.
The fast food job was great because I made a guaranteed hourly wage in a fun environment with fries as a side benefit.

The waitress job was terrific because I made awesome tips along with my paycheck. Both were job experiences that allowed me to make serious money as a teen.

14. Be a Mother’s Helper

A mother’s (or father’s) helper is different from a babysitter or nanny because the parent is typically home most of the time you’re there working.
As a parent’s helper, you’ll likely be asked to do a variety of different jobs to help the household run efficiently.
You might be asked do the dishes, make lunch or fold laundry. You might help a child with homework, change a diaper or take a young child out to play.
Being a parent’s helper allows you to earn money by helping a family while still having an adult nearby.

15. Run Errands

Many busy people and families would love to pay a teen who is willing to run errands for them. They might send you to pick up some groceries or to stop at the drug store.
They may have you drop off/pick up dry cleaning or make a run to the post office to mail a package.
Make the most of your errand running income by working in neighborhoods where stores and other destinations are close to a lot of homes and apartments.

16. Work for a Property Management Team

Working for a property management team is another job I had as a teen. My mom knew a guy who owned a half-dozen rental properties. When tenants vacated, my mom and I would head over to the house to paint the interior walls and clean the property to get it ready for the next tenant.
We got paid well and were paid directly after each job was finished.

17. Hold a Class at Your Home

If you have a talent such as drawing, painting, or dancing, you could hold classes for neighborhood kids in your yard or home. The classes can be one-time deals or can be held for several days in a row.
If you’re going to teach a class to neighborhood kids, you’ll need to create an itinerary that will teach them what they want to learn and keep them busy for the entire class time.
Be sure to charge a class fee that makes it worth your time and is affordable for parents.

18. Retail Worker

Many clothing and retail store managers are searching out teens to work cash registers and keep shelves stocked. Retail work can be done seasonally, like during the holidays, or can be worked all year around.
A professional appearance, a good attitude and a willingness to be on time count where local retail stores are concerned.
If you have these qualities, you might want to consider a job in retail.

19. Ask Parents for Jobs to do around the House

It’s probably likely that your parents have a lot of stuff they would like to have done around the house, but they just don’t have the time to do it.
Ask them if they have a list of jobs they would be willing to pay you to do. Maybe they’ll hire you to deep clean the basement or garage. Maybe they need help removing clutter in a home office.
They might want you to do a spring cleaning project such as cleaning windows or washing blankets and comforters.Have them make a list of jobs they need to be done around the house, along with what they’ll pay for each completed job, and decide which ones you want to do.

20. Turn Your Hobbies into Cash

Do you have a hobby that you can make money with? Are you good drawing people or animals? Do you know how to make great videos? Are you gifted at creating logos for businesses?

Are you great at writing stories or poems?
Make a list of the talents you have and offer to hire out for them via local ads or on websites such as Fiverr. Fiverr allows you to list job offerings (or search out jobs needed) for pay from $5 on up.

The key to success with sites like Fiverr is to charge an attractive price to potential clients while making sure you are getting paid at a fair rate.
You might start out making less than you’d like to, but if people like your work and your services become more in demand, you’ll be able to raise your rates.

21. Sell Your Products

Are you gifted at making crafts, jewelry, artwork, woodworking or other items? If so, you can open an Etsy shop and sell your products.
You can also sell them on sites such as Craigslist or eBay, or sell them at local fairs and events.

22. Sell Your Designs

One way to make money that costs very little out-of-pocket is to create designs for t-shirts and other items. You make the design, and then upload the design to sites such as Redbubble or Cafepress, where they print ordered designs on items such as t-shirts, tote bags, and iPad covers.
When someone orders an item with your design or saying on it, you get paid commission from the sale.

23. Grocery Store Employee

Grocery stores have many different job positions available for teens. You could be a cashier, a grocery bagger, a cart handler or a stock person. Since grocery stores offer jobs that require customer interaction and jobs that don’t require customer interaction, grocery store work would be good for people who love working with customers and those who would rather work behind the scenes.

24. Lifeguard

If you’re a good swimmer and like hanging out at the beach, a lifeguard position might be right for you. Most lifeguard jobs require workers to have or get lifeguard certification through a qualified organization such as the Red Cross, so check for local lifeguard certification class offerings if you’re interested in pursuing a job as a lifeguard.

25. Movie Theater Worker

If you love people and like movies, you might enjoy a job as a movie theater worker. Movie theaters offer several different job positions such as ticket sellers, ticket takers, concession stand workers and janitorial positions.
Check with your local theater management to see about putting in an application.

26. Umpire or Referee

Local sports organizations often seek out teens to work umpire and referee jobs for kids’ sports teams. If you love and are good at sports such as baseball, basketball, softball, and football, you could apply to work as an umpire or referee.
These types of jobs usually pay well too.

27. Sell Your Stuff

Is your closet, basement or storage area loaded with clothes, accessories, games, and toys you no longer use or need? Consider selling them at a garage sale, online at Craigslist or on your Facebook account. There’s also Letgo, which shows your items to people who live near you, so it’s good for selling larger items that you don’t necessarily want to ship.

Want to get rid of some electronic games, DVDs or CDs? See what you can get on sites such as Decluttr or bring them into Half Priced Books for instant cash back.
The general rule for selling used stuff is to charge 10 percent of the retail cost, or more for larger items such as gaming items, bicycles or other sports equipment that is in good shape.

Price your items fairly for a quicker sale, and be willing to haggle with customers. You might be able to talk your parents into letting you sell some of their stuff for a commission earning too.

28. Help a Senior

Many older people are looking to hire young people to spend time with them, read to them, play cards or other games with them, or just simply talk with them.
Check with local retirement communities to see if they have a job posting board where you can offer your services.

29. Be a Golf Caddy

Public and private golf clubs are often looking to hire teens as golf caddies for members and guests that come to play golf. If you like and know about the game of golf, or if you’re willing to learn about it, you could land a job as a golf caddy. Bonus: Golf caddies often get nice tips from the people for whom they caddy.

30. Collect and Resell Golf Balls

Another job you can get working in the golf industry is collecting golf balls found near local golf courses, cleaning them up and reselling them to local golfers.
You can search outside of local golf courses for stray balls, and you might even be able to get permission to search on course grounds after hours from local club managers.

You can sell your cleaned up golf balls outside of the local golf club entrance (as long as you’re on public property) or you can ask people you know who play golf if they want to buy the balls you find at a price discounted from retail price.

31. Work from Home as a Call Center Representative

Many companies hire call center representatives to work from home instead of having to house them in a central commercial location.
Call center reps perform duties such as scheduling appointments and answering customer service and product information questions.
While many companies that are in need of customer service reps require applicants to be 18 years of age or older, some companies, such as U-Haul, allow teens as young as 16 to work as customer service reps. Companies in need of customer service reps provide all training for employees, usually in the form of an online service manual you can read to learn about the company and its services and products.
If you are polite and like working with people, this job could be a great way for you to earn money.

32. Tutor Kids

Many parents are looking for reasonably priced tutors for their kids in specific school subjects. If you’re a teen that excels in a particular subject such as math, reading, or a foreign language, you can offer your tutor services to local parents.
Ask neighborhood parents if they are in need of a tutor or check local online sites such as Craigslist for parents looking for tutors. Make sure to involve your parents when meeting up with a potential customer for safety reasons.

33. Paint Fences

Wooden fences need to be painted or stained every few years to protect the wood from deteriorating.
If you like to paint and have neighbors who have wooden fences that need to be re-coated, ask if they’ll hire you to do the job. You’ll likely need to do some research on how to properly prepare wooden surfaces for painting and on what types of paints are best to use on outdoor wood surfaces before you start.

34. Boat and Camper Cleaning

If you’ve got neighbors who own boats, campers or other recreational vehicles, see if they’d like to hire you to clean them out after they return from outings.
Ask to use their hose and water for rinsing, and their shop vac for vacuuming if needed, and then bring all other cleaning supplies from home to make it easier for clients.

35. Grass and Plant Watering

Sometimes people need help with the task of watering their grass, flowers, and plants. Offer the service of coming to their home and watering these items for them once or twice a week to keep their grass and flowers healthy and fresh looking.

36. Doggie Doo-doo Scooper

Homeowners with dogs have to take the time to do the chore of cleaning up dog poo from their yards. Many of your neighbors might be open to considering paying you to do this job for them.
Schedule regular yard cleaning times for each client in order bring in a steady amount of money for your business.

37. Rent out Your Video Games or Books

If you’ve got a lot of video games or books, you can rent them to friends for a small fee. Charge them a certain amount to rent the item for a week or two, and make sure to tell them there will be a late fee if the item isn’t returned to you on time.
Keep a notebook listing who has what items and when they’re due back so that you don’t lose track of your stuff.

38. Do Lawn Work

One of the jobs my kids used to do was to help their great aunt with lawn work. They would mow the lawn in the spring, summer, and fall, and in late fall they would rake leaves and bag them up for her.
She paid them well for this work, and it made life easier for her. Chances are that at least some people in your neighborhood could use help maintaining their lawns. Ask your parents if you can use their lawnmower (offer to pay for the gas it uses out of your earnings), or you can use each client’s mower if they have one they are willing to let you use. If you’re not interested in mowing lawns, you could offer to rake and bag leaves in the fall or shovel snow in the winter if you live in a colder climate.

39. Weed Gardens

If your neighbors have flower and vegetable gardens, you might be able to earn some money by offering to pull weeds from the garden for them.
Weeding usually needs to be done on a weekly basis in most gardens and is hard work for older people, so they might appreciate a teen taking this task off of their hands.

40. Collect Aluminum Cans

If your neighbors drink a lot of canned drinks such as sodas, consider asking them if you can pick up their discarded soda and other beverage cans once a week.
Then bring the cans to a local recycling center where they’ll pay you cash for your aluminum cans.

Ways to Make the Most of Your Income Earning Skills

Anyone can do a job, but it takes certain skills to keep clients coming back. Here are some things you can do to help maximize the amount of money you can make at the jobs you do.

Be on Time

Timeliness is a big deal in the working world. Show your clients or the manager at the job you’re working that you appreciate the work by being on time, every time. Show up early if you have to, but avoid being late.

Have a Great Attitude

Workers and business owners with friendly, positive attitudes will go a lot further, work a lot longer and earn a lot more money than those with a downtrodden demeanor and a negative attitude.
Choose to be positive in your work environment and spread happiness to others with a cheerful outlook.

Be Professional

A professional employee or business owner possesses certain characteristics. For instance, they work well with others, they avoid office gossip and they take their job seriously.
Make sure to have a professional attitude about whatever-money making ventures you participate in.

Do Your Job Really Well

To keep clients coming back for more business and help make sure your manager wants to keep you as an employee, be sure to do your job to the best of your ability.Do what is asked of you and follow any directions as stated.

Provide Quality Products

If you’re working to make money by selling things you make or own, be sure to provide quality products. Take the time to do your best work when selling things you make such as jewelry or artwork, and when you’re selling products you own, be sure to clean them up and have them in good working order.

Go the Extra Mile

Going the extra mile is especially important when you’re running a business such as a car washing or house cleaning business. One way to help ensure clients keep asking you to do more work for them is to go above and beyond. For instance, if you’re doing a house cleaning job, organize a small closet as a bonus. If you’re cleaning cars, scrub out a carpet stain for free.
Make sure your “extra mile” added jobs don’t take up too much of your time but will benefit the customer. The added effort you give will help provide them with a reason to use your services again.

Practice Safety While Working

Always put safeguards in place as you work. It might mean keeping cleaning chemicals out of the reach of small children or pets while you’re doing a cleaning job, or having a parent escort you to meet a new client or work for someone you don’t know very well.

Safety at work is good for clients and for you.
There are many ways you as a teen can put money in your pocket. With a little creativity and some hard work, you can be earning serious cash in no time.

Blogging for Beginners:How to Start A Blog. The Beginners Guide in 2018

So, you want to start a blog huh? Great idea!

But…how the heck do you get started? There’s so much info out there on the web, and everyone’s telling you to do different things. Who do you listen to? Where’s the starting point?

Damnit, maybe you should just forget it – it’s too confusing!

Well, hold up. I used to be a blogging newbie too. I had the same problems. I started my blog way back in 2006, and I knew less than nothing about blogging. In fact it was only the week before I’d learnt what a blog was.

Now I know a ton about them, and my blog’s doing pretty well – I receive more than 300,000 unique visitors per month which makes me consider myself someone you could listen to and learn from when it comes to building your own blog. I’m not some sort of Guru, but I certainly do know the basics.

I promise it’ll be simple, relatively easy, and definitely easy to understand (no stupid jargon). Sound good?

Awesome, let’s move on.

Why you should create a blog and join the blogging community

So below, I’m going to outline exactly what you need to do to get started and set up your own personal blog. Before we dive in though, I really want to talk about WHY you should build a blog.

Note: If you already have a solid idea of the whys, then skip this and go right ahead with the guide.

Blogging has quickly become one of the most popular ways of communicating and spreading information and news. There are literally millions of blogs online (don’t worry, you can make yours stand out and get noticed!).
It’s a great way to express yourself and also a fantastic way to share information with others.
You become a better person and a better writer.
The best reason? You can make money doing it!
I bet you already knew all of that, but it’s nice to be reminded.

One very last thing before we get started:

Creating your own blog can take a little while, probably up to 30 minutes. So grab yourself a coffee or juice (whatever you fancy) and let’s get stuck in. If you need any help during the set-up process, get in touch with me here and I’ll help as best I can and answer any questions you might have).

Disclosure: This guide to starting your own blog contains some affiliate links. If you purchase a service through one of these links I may earn a small commission, this is at no extra cost to you.

The Steps Covered In This Blogging Guide

It’s nowhere near as difficult as setting up a website from scratch (there’s very little technical ability needed here). In fact, there’s no coding required by you. Good news, huh?

How to Start a Blog in 5 Steps:

There’s five main steps you need to do in order to start a blog. If you follow this guide exactly, you’ll have your own blog set up in 30 minutes or less.

  • Choose a great blog platform
  • Choose a web host for your blog
  • How to Set up a blog on your own domain
  • Design your new blog
  • Useful resources for blogging

So, we made it. Phew. Better late than never! So, without further ado, let’s jump into step 1.

Step 1 – Choose your preferred blogging platform

Choosing where you want to build blog is pretty much the first thing you have to do. I’m going to take a leap and assume you’ve heard of WordPress, and this is the platform I advocate. It’s massive.

It’s by far one of the biggest blogging platforms in the world, with countless plugins and add-ons and almost infinite ways to design and layout your blog.

There are more than 82 million active users of WordPress = a lot, basically.

There are other alternatives however, and they are listed below:

Blogger – Definitely the next best thing to WordPress.
Tumblr – Half social network, half blog. Interesting, and very simple to use.
Even though WordPress is bigger (and probably better) than those two, here are my reasons why you should still go with WordPress:

Super easy set-up and is free to use
Tons of free themes and layouts (I’m not kidding, there’s gazillions).
There’s a massive support forum in case you get stuck (you won’t, but it’s nice to have it there if you need it).
Your blog will be insanely fast and it’ll also look Functionality and form – perfect!
People can interact with you easily. Your content can be shared, commented on, and so on.
Here’s an article about different blogging platforms (including WordPress), give it a read:

How to Choose a Blogging Platform – (updated for 2018)

Now, Step 2 (see, we’re moving fast now!)

Step 2 – Self-hosting or a free alternative?

Whoa, slow down there! This is the biggest decision you’ll have to make before we go any further. You need to decide whether to pay for your blog or grab a free one.

WordPress, Tumblr and Blogger all offer free blogs for anyone. Awesome, right? It’s perfect for those of us who aren’t super serious about blogging. But it does have downsides:

1) You won’t be able to get your OWN domain name

On a free blog, your blog’s web address (your URL) will be butt-ugly. Like, really ugly. In short, create a free blog with any other the above free blog services and it’ll look like this:

yourblog.wordpress.com
yourblog.blogspot.com
yourblog.tumblr.com
I know, ugly right?

2) Limits and more limits

There are some limits to free blogs. You can’t fully monetize it, and you don’t have the possibility to upload all those videos and images you want to show everyone – it’s all limited. Worse still, you won’t even have access to the free themes offered by WordPress.

3) You DON’T OWN your blog

It might sound silly at first, but you don’t actually own your blog. It’s hosted on someone else’s web property and they can delete it if they want so. They have done so in the past, and keep doing it in the future. Which means all your hard work on your blog, all those countless hours of writing blog posts might be vanished within seconds. Sad…

On the other hand, with a self-hosted blog on your own domain name – you are the REAL owner of your blog. You’ll be able to name your blog whatever you want, for example “YourName.com” or “YourAwesomeBlog.com. You can end it with .com, .co.uk, .net, .org, or virtually any other web suffix. Add to that unlimited bandwidth for videos, images and content plus the free themes and you have a winning combo.

So how much is hosting and a domain name? Not as much as you’re thinking, fortunately. It usually works out to about $5 to $10 per month, depending on your hosting provider which is less than a couple of coffees.

If you still have questions, here’s some further information for you to look at:

Should I Choose a Hosted or Non-hosted Blogging Platform?

Step 3 – Start a blog on your own domain (if you chose self-hosting and a custom domain)

I’m going to push ahead based on the premise you’ve chosen WordPress, and if you haven’t, you should. Seriously, it’s the best.

If you’re still a little confused by what a self-hosted blog is, allow me to explain and how you can go about setting one up for yourself.

You’ll need to come up with a domain name you like and also choose a hosting company that can host your blog.

Domain: The domain is basically the URL of your website. Examples: google.com (Google.com is the domain), Facebook.com (Facebook.com is the domain). See? Simple!
Hosting: Hosting is basically the company that puts your website up on the internet so everyone else can see it. Everything will be saved on there. Think of it as a computer hard-drive on the internet where your blog will be saved.

Personally, I use iPage (for my blog domain and hosting), and I’ve got nothing but good things to say about it. It’s probably one of the cheapest (less than $2.50 per month) hosting providers out there. A domain name will cost around $10-15 a year, but with iPage they throw that in for free :). Big smiles for that! They’re the providers I use for all of my blogs, including the one you’re reading right now.

If for any reason you don’t want to go with iPage, feel free to choose your own hosting company. Most, if not all of them, should have a “one-click” WordPress install solution on their admin panel.

That button will automatically install WordPress on your blog. Did I say it was simple or what?

All you need to do is sign up with iPage (or your chosen provider), choose your hosting plan and a domain name and look for the one-click WordPress install button on the admin panel.

WordPress essentials aren’t often needed, but I’d recommend whois privacy (that will keep all your personal details private) and definitely automated backups (this’ll save your website just in case anything fails or disappears, so you won’t lose any or very little of your blog).

Once WordPress is installed on your website, all you have to do to start blogging is go to your WP-Admin page usually www.yourblognamehere.com/wp-admin and start writing by adding a new post.

At the start, the layout looks confusing, but it gets very understandable quickly. Don’t worry!

Step 4 – Designing your WordPress blog

Now, the fun bit.

Let’s make your blog look exactly how you want it to. To choose a new theme, you can either head to Appearance > Themes and install a free WordPress theme or you can head to a premium theme website like ThemeForest.net and buy a theme for around $40.

I usually choose something that looks professional and pretty easy to customize. WordPress also has this awesome feature that allows you to change themes with just a few clicks. So if you start getting tired of your current blog template, you can just switch to another one without losing any precious content or images.

Remember, your blog’s design should reflect both you and your personality, but also what the blog is about. There’s no point having a football-orientated theme if your blog is about tennis, understand?

On top of that, it should be easy to navigate if you want people to stick around. If it’s tricky and difficult to move around it, people won’t stay. Design is a subjective art; meaning everyone likes different things.

But no one likes ugly websites, and they especially hate websites that need a university degree to navigate. Make it easy for them.

Step 5 – Useful Resources For Beginner Bloggers

These articles may help you avoid some of the growing pains when it comes to your first blog – enjoy!:

And that’s it! I’m more than confident that your initial blog set up should now be finished and ready to go, and all that should have been really damn easy (unlike my first time, lucky you!). If you are having any problems installing WordPress on iPage then this guide may help.

How To Blog:How to Start A Blog For Money While Having Fun

How to Start A Blog

Are you wondering how to start a blog? Or maybe you have questions about it. I’m glad you’re here! In this post, I’ll show you exactly how to create your own blog, no technical experience required. (It’s easier and faster than you think.) Plus, I’ll answer some frequently asked questions along the way. This is the site I wish I had when I started blogging 14 years ago.

How to start a blog to make money or otherwise in 2018!

I created my first blog in 2004 with zero computer experience. It took me forever because I had to google my way through. This how-to guide contains what I learned and is for those who want step-by-step instructions in an easy and simple format.

The 6 steps to start a blog

  • Decide what to blog about.
  • Choose a blogging platform.
  • Find a host.
  • Pick a domain name.
  • Get started with WordPress.
  • Design & use your blog!
  • Don’t worry, I’ll walk you right through. Frequently asked questions are clearly indicated by “FAQ.”

Click here to skip the introduction and jump to Step 1.

Why start a blog?

There are many reasons to consider starting a blog. Here are a few popular ones:

Make money while working from home. I make a full-time income blogging. Many others do the same. Making money as a blogger is hard work, but it’s low risk, low overhead and low barrier to entry.

Become a published author. It’s no secret, these days publishers rarely work with authors who don’t have an online presence. The reason is simple: it’s a lot easier to sell books to people who already know you. A blog is one of the easiest and most effective places to start.

Get more exposure for your existing business or organization. A blog gives anyone, from individuals to large companies, the ability to reach a large number of people at very little cost.

Just write. If you want to write, share your story, encourage others and build a community, a blog is a great place to do that.
Do you see yourself in any of those? Can you see how you would benefit from a blog? Keep reading!

Here are my easy-to-follow steps to get start a self-hosted WordPress blog, no technical experience required.

Step 1: Decide what to blog about

If you’re part of a business, company or organization, your blog should be related to the product(s) or service(s) you provide, or the cause you promote.

If you’re an individual, you have more flexibility when choosing a topic. I talked about it here, but the main things to remember are:

Blog about something you enjoy. If you aren’t excited about your topic, writing about it will be drudgery. Who wants that? Also, why would readers be interested if you aren’t?
Blog about something with plenty of room for discussion. A blog requires a lot of content to get going and remain interesting. You’ll be at this a long time so make sure you have plenty to talk about.
Choose a niche in which you can establish yourself as an authority. You probably won’t be the first person to blog about the topic you choose. It’s almost guaranteed someone else has thought of it before you. Don’t fret about this, come up with a unique angle. Do you have a reasonable chance of making your blog better than others talking about the same thing?
The goal for any blog is to become the go-to resource for its topic or niche.

Step 2: Choose a blogging platform

If you want to cook, you need a kitchen. If you want to blog, you need a blogging platform.

There are many blogging platforms to choose from. WordPress, Blogger, Squarespace, Wix and Weebly are a few.

All have pros and cons, but WordPress is by far the most popular (source), and for good reason. It’s flexible, functional and has a large community of users who share tools and ideas.

I use and recommend WordPress (but not through WordPress.com).

If you choose WordPress, you have two options: hosted or self-hosted.

Hosted WordPress blogs, sometimes called WordPress.com blogs, are free but limit your income potential.
Self-hosted WordPress blogs, sometimes called WordPress.org blogs, cost a little money but give you much more control, and do not limit your income potential.
This guide will teach you how to start a self-hosted WordPress blog, the platform preferred by beginner and veteran bloggers alike.

Note: Even though a self-hosted WordPress blog is sometimes referred to as a “WordPress.org” blog, you are not limited to a .org at the end of your name. You can still use .com, just like I do for AmyLynnAndrews.com.

Alright, let’s get set up!

Step 3: Find a host

Hopefully I’ve convinced you of the merits of WordPress, but there’s one more thing to know. WordPress is simply software. You can download it to your personal computer, but then your blog will only be accessible to you. In other words, WordPress by itself, won’t make your blog live on the internet.

In order for your blog to be online, and accessible to anyone, you need server space. You get server space from a hosting company or “host.”

What host should you use?

I recommend a host I have personally paid for and used for over a decade. (As a longtime paying customer, the links below are my referral links. This means, at no additional cost to you, I will earn a commission if you make a purchase.)

Click here to –> go to Bluehost <– and start your own blog. (The link will open in a new window so you can reference these instructions as you work.) Click the green “Get Started Now” button like so:

Don’t worry if the images you see here vary slightly from the ones you see on your screen. The process is the same. Bluehost is always tweaking and making site improvements. You might even catch them in a sale!

Select your plan

Choose the plan you’d like to start with by clicking one of the green “select” buttons. I typically go with Plus or Prime because you get more unlimited features.

Domain privacy, which I highly recommend, comes included with Prime. If you choose Plus, you’ll have the option to add it later for about $1 a month.

On the next screen, you’ll enter your new blog name. Don’t have one yet? You can easily move on without one.

Step 4: Pick a domain name

A domain is a web address. For example, AmyLynnAndrews.com is my domain name.

If you don’t already have ideas, use your name, or think of something short, catchy and shareable.

If you have previously registered a domain and want to use it for this new site, enter it on the right. (Don’t worry, it won’t mess things up to enter it here. It only identifies your Bluehost account for now.) If you don’t already have one, enter your desired domain on the left.

For the purpose of this tutorial, I will use a new domain. If you are using an existing domain, the process is nearly the same. You can still follow along easily.

Enter your account info

On the next page, enter your account info. Make sure you use a working email address because this is where your login information will be sent. (Save these emails!)

Add caption

Choose an account plan based on how far in advance you want to pay. Bluehost bills 1, 2, 3 or 5 years upfront. They do not offer a monthly payment option (hosts that do often charge double or triple). As you can see, it works out to be a very reasonable monthly amount. Not bad for your own blog or website, right? It’s a great deal.

I skip the add-ons except Domain Privacy Protection. The others can easily be added later if needed. (Domain privacy is only available for new domains. If you selected the Prime package, it’s free.) This protection keeps your personal information private. The only time I would skip domain privacy is if you are using a business address and don’t mind if it’s visible to anyone who looks up your domain.

The total is the amount you’ll pay today. You won’t have to pay again for 12, 24, 36 or 60 months, depending on the account plan you chose. Set it and forget it!

Enter your billing info

Next, fill in your billing information, confirm that you’ve read the fine print and then click Submit.

Skip the upgrades & special offers

Once you hit submit, you’ll be asked if you want to add any upgrades or special offers. I skip them by clicking the “no thanks” link.

Choose a password

After your purchase is complete, you’ll be asked to choose a password. Just click the “Create your password” button to choose a secure password.

This password will allow you to login and get started.

Step 5: Get started with WordPress

You can start working on your WordPress site right away. Click the blue login button in the “Congratulations!” window to get started with WordPress.

Skip the free themes

Bluehost gives you the option to pick a free theme immediately. Unless you are familiar with one listed, I recommend you skip it by clicking “Skip this step” at the bottom of the screen. Why? Because many free themes are not kept updated. Outdated themes leave holes hackers can exploit and are not worth the risk.

The theme that comes pre-installed will suffice for now. You can switch to a different theme once you’re set up and more familiar with WordPress.

Start building your site

Your site will be on a temporary domain at first. Don’t be alarmed.

For new domains, this is because it takes 2-24 hours for your chosen domain to become fully registered. Go ahead and start working on your site. When the real domain is ready, Bluehost will switch it for your automatically.

If you used an existing domain in Step 4, you can contact Bluehost support (New Hosting Customers) or look in the help section when you are ready to connect your existing domain to this new site.

You have two options on this screen, the blue “Start Building” button and the link underneath to go to your Bluehost account:

It’s unlikely you’ll need to access your Bluehost account at this point so clicking the “Start Building” button will take you to your new WordPress site like so:

The black column on the left indicates your WordPress dashboard, a place with which you will become very familiar.

I recommend skipping the blue buttons in the middle of the screen (Business & Personal) and choosing “I don’t need help” instead. Why? I prefer to start with a clean slate.

Step 6: Design & use your blog!

Congratulations! You’re the proud owner of a self-hosted WordPress site. Before diving in, I recommend making these tweaks to your settings:

Change your permalinks. I explain why and how in this post here.
Change your username from “Admin” to something more secure. Read about that and find instructions here.
Activate your domain. If you chose a new domain in Step 4, find the appropriate welcome email and click the button inside to complete the activation process.
Change your domain from HTTP to HTTPS. Again, for security. Read the FAQ below for instructions.

FAQ: How do I switch from HTTP to HTTPS on Bluehost?

Note: This option is only available once your domain registration is fully completed and you are no longer on your temporary domain (see Step 5 above). You’ll know this is the case when you type your chosen domain into any browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc.) and your domain works, without forwarding to a weird looking domain in the address bar. If your site is still using a temporary domain, put a reminder on your calendar to come back in 2-24 hours to finish this step.

HTTPS vs. HTTP

Until recently, website URLs typically looked like this: http://amylynnandrews.com

However, there’s been a push to convert sites over to look like this: https://amylynnandrews.com

Do you see the difference? It’s just an “s” after the http. That “s” indicates a site is secure and less prone to prying eyes. That’s important.

First, it gives visitors peace of mind, particularly if they enter any personal information on your site, such as their email address when they sign up for your email list, or information related to something they buy from you.

Second, it keeps your site on Google’s good side. That’s important too. Why? As of late 2017, Google may alert people when a site is insecure. No site owner wants a visitor to get a big fat warning that their site is insecure!

Turn on your free Bluehost SSL certificate

If you registered a new domain above, turn on your free SSL certificate to put an extra layer of protection for your visitors. Don’t be intimidated by the fancy term. It’s easy. (If you have an existing domain registered elsewhere, check with that company about getting an SSL certificate.)

Login to your Bluehost account by clicking on this link. Select the “hosting login” tab if it isn’t already. Use the login information you received via email immediately after signing up with Bluehost in Step 4 above.

Once you’re logged in, click on “My Sites” in the left column. Then hover over the thumbnail image of your site. Click the “Manage Site” option that appears like so:

On the next screen, select the “Security” tab at the top. Turn on the Free SSL Certificate by toggling the switch to “On”:

That’s it! Give it a little bit of time to catch up. When you type your domain into Chrome for example, you’ll see a secure icon:

Secure HTTPS site icon in Chrome

An insecure site will have an “i” with a circle around it like this in Chrome:

FAQ: How much does a blog cost?

If you use the method below, it works out to $5 to $10 a month. I blogged for years on this budget. As my blog and income grew, I eventually started paying for more premium tools and services, but they are not required to start.

FAQ: Can I start a blog for free?

Yes. However, here’s my advice from personal experience: a free blog is fine if it’s a hobby. If you want to make money from your blog I don’t recommend starting a free blog. Why? A few reasons:

Some free services limit monetization (i.e. making money) unless you “upgrade” to a higher level. You’ll have to pay for that upgrade of course, so it defeats the purpose of having a free blog in the first place.

Companies don’t offer free blogs out of the goodness of their hearts. They still want to make money somehow. If you’re only using their free service, they’re not making money from you. Therefore, they don’t have a lot of incentive to keep you happy. Sometimes this means you’ll have little to no support. Other times it means you’ll be badgered with offers for their paid-for products.

Most free services have only basic features. This might not be a problem at first, but as you grow, you will almost certainly feel the pinch. Expandability and flexibility are key, both of which are limited with free blogging services.

If you ever want to switch to a better service (very common among those who start a free blog), it’s a hassle and can be costly. Doing it yourself takes a lot of time and know-how. Hiring someone to do it for you correctly costs hundreds of dollars.

You might not be able to do what your favorite bloggers are doing. This happens to new bloggers all the time. They start a blog for free. Soon they notice cool features on other blogs which they want too. The problem is, it’s not possible on their free service.

Accountability. In general, we value things we pay for. Blogging is hard work. One way to keep yourself accountable is to pay just a little bit for it.
If those 6 common pitfalls don’t convince you, or a free blog is truly your only choice, I would go with Blogger

Was this post helpful? If so, would you consider sharing it with others who might appreciate it as well? Thanks!

With the above settings adjusted, your blog is ready to go!

There are many directions you can go at this point, but know this: you will feel overwhelmed, especially at the beginning. This is normal. When it comes to starting a blog, there is a steep learning curve, but don’t give up! Push through! Most of us have been in that very spot too. If you want some encouragement, read my post 18 Tips for New Bloggers.

Where to begin? Here’s a basic roadmap…

Learn more about WordPress. Visit my Contents page for an organized list of tips, tools & tutorials. Check out the WordPress section in particular. If you work your way through this list of articles, you will have a good handle on the basics, from adjusting your settings to publishing your first post.

Next, write your About page.
After that, start building your content. Write high quality posts on a consistent basis. Remember, your goal is to become the go-to resources in your topic or niche.

Once you have some excellent posts published, start dabbling in social media. This post will give you pointers for that.

Rinse & repeat.

How I Make Money Blogging By Spending 5% Of My Time On My Blog

How To Make Money Blogging

In order to make money blogging there are a few things you need to know, this post tells you exactly how to make money blogging.

I started a blog a little over a year ago and now I am a full time blogger who helps other bloggers make money online. The question I get more than any other question (even from non bloggers)  is " "how do I make money online?"

My answer is almost always the things I am going to talk about in this post. Which is how I use my blog to make a full time income online.  This post is for people who have already created their blog, but If you are looking to create a blog for less than $3 a month, click here to go to my post explaining how you can create a blog for less than $3 a month. It is the perfect post for anyone who wants a blog but hasn't started one yet.

If you found me from Pinterest and are curious how I can make this much blogging than you have already figured out more than half of my job, I spend 5% of my time actually working on my website and 95% of my time using Pinterest to get my website in front of the right people, yes I basically get paid to use Pinterest.

HERE IS WHAT I DID TO START MAKING HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS MY FIRST MONTH BLOGGING:

1. Create Simple Monthly Goals

When I started this blog I had no following for it on Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or Google +. But I knew I needed to set social goals to push me hard to engage and grow a community for my blog online. Because your community is how you make money. It was hard set goals about how much money I thought I wanted d make, and how many followers I wanted to get when I had absolutely nothing to compare my blog to.

Because I didn't have anything to compare my blog to this made setting goals even more important. Goals allow you to have something to work towards. When you go into a task without a goal you often don't have the motivation to continue. For me knowing that I wanted to make $250 my first month blogging was enough to motivate me to do everything in my power to make that a reality.

However I knew I needed to create achievable goals. Earning 1,000,000 a month when you have nothing to sell and no followers may be impossible, but earning a few hundred dollars is not.

My goals now a day are much larger than they were back then but here are my original goals for my very first month blogging:

  • Earn: $250
  • Twitter Followers: 500
  • Pinterest Followers: 1000
  • (I didn't plan to focus on Facebook and Instagram followers)
  • Facebook Page Likes: 70
  • Instagram Followers: 50
  • 12 months later and now my goals look much more like this:

  • Earn: $20,000+ A month
  • Schedule 30+ pins a day
  • Write 2 Monthly Newsletters
  • Keep active in my Facebook Group
  • Create a new email opt-in every month
  • Grow my Pinterest Following 500 a month.

2. Increase Your Following on One Social Site at a Time.

I see so many bloggers spread themselves so thin on every social media network because marketing agencies want "high interaction" to sponsor them. Sponsorships are not the way that you are going make the most money. Sponsorships should really be a small portion of your income because you can make way more money through affiliates, and creating your own products.

Spreading yourself too thin as a blogger really limits how you can grow as a blogger. I decided to focus on Pinterest, and Twitter when I started my blog because I knew If I used Pinterest correctly It can bring your blog a good amount of traffic from people in your target audience. (you can click here to learn how I met my goal and got a lot of traffic from Pinterest).

I am now happy to say a year later that focusing on Pinterest more than any other social media site has been the right decision. Pinterest is the only reason I make money, and get traffic to my blog. If you are new to blogging, but really want to increase the money you make blogging there are a few things that I recommend

Boardbooster: Boardbooster allows you to Loop pins, which deletes old pins and reposts them but it won't delete viral pins. This makes your page continue to be active even when you aren't activity pinning. Since starting to use Boardbooster I have increased my income by nearly 500%. I highly reccomend joining boardbooster even if you only use the entry level subscribtion. You can sign up for Boardbooster here.

Tailwind: Tailwind is a Pinterest scheduler that is completely different than Boardbooster instead of re-pinning things you have already pinned with Tailwind you can find new things to pin by using group boards called Tribes, or searching within Tailwind. By using Tailwind Tribes I have increased the amount of views I get on Pinterest monthly from 40,000 to upward of 1,000,000 views a month. Tailwind is amazing and has totaly changed my life. If you want to find out more you can sign up for a free tailwind account here.

I also knew that Twitter was a great way to start branding myself, I could grow a large following on Twitter faster than other social media networks. This would help my blog more professional because I was connected to a large target audience.  The more professional your blog looks the easier it will be to make money.

I talk a ton more about how to create the perfect social media strategy when first trying to make money with your blog in the mini course 30 Days to Blog Success. It tells you exactly how to dive into social media from the beginning (the easy way) when trying to make money blogging.

So start with one or two social media sites at a time. If you need help deciding which ones are right for you always assume Pinterest is number one, and then the second one should be what you think people would be most likely to click on a link to your blog from.

3. Start with One Affiliate Program.

I see posts being re-pined on Pinterest all the time with titles like, "50 Great Affiliate Marketing Programs" and "The top 20 affiliate programs" too many affiliate links take away from your content.

No one is going to want to keep coming back to a blog when every post just sounds like a sales pitch to get you to go somewhere else and buy something or sign up for a service.

Posting too many affiliate links is going to take away from your earnings because people will not take you seriously. They will easily be able to tell you are just trying to make money, and that you aren't actually offering any advice, or stories for your viewers to read.

Affiliate marketing is one of my favorite topics to talk about in my mini-course because it is a way you can start making money ASAP because as soon as you sign up you can start selling, there is no time you have to invest in creating a product. Because Affiliate marketing is so powerful I talk about it tons in my mini-course, so if you are interested in how to jump into affiliate marketing I think the mini course 30 days to blog success will be very helpful!

To make good money with affiliate programs you need to focus on one or two and push them. You should create a whole post about the great things that product or service has to offer not just include a link to it in every post.

Affiliate marketing is over half of my income, and i still stick to the basics that I talk about in my mini-course. A few of the things I do to be successful blogging, and with affiliate marketing is:

Only use a few affiliates.
Be transparent with your readers.
Use the affiliate  because you honestly love them.
I create a mini-course to help other bloggers turn their blogs into a full-time income in a short period of time (I did it for myself in 30 days) and in that mini-course I talk tons more about affiliate marketing. So....

If you are interested in turning your tiny blog (or not yet blog) into a full time business in just 30 days, my mini course "30 Days to Blog Success" is for you!

 4. Offer Services

So many bloggers are worth so much more than they know.

I see food bloggers all the time and wonder why they don't offer services bring in more money. A few of the examples I talk about in my mini-course for food bloggers are: online video cooking lessons, personal recipe creation, 30 minute meal cooking classes online, (there are many more for all kinds of bloggers in the book).

Services I offer are:

Blog Auditing: where I go do a 4+ page report of someones blog and tell them exactly how they can make money with their type of blog, what they should be doing to get more traffic, what images they can post to create more shares.

Social Media Auditing: Where I create a complete a 4+ page complete review of bloggers social media to tell them, when they should be posting, what content they should be sharing more, what content they should be sharing less, what social media they should focus on growing next, what they can do to wok less on their social media.

Everyone has knowledge that someone else doesn't have and wants. The options are endless. Fashion bloggers could offer services helping their readers organize their clothes for that season, or for an event, or personal online shopping. There are so many ways to make money blogging with services.

I brought up offering services to one of my clients and she said, "I don't have enough readers to offer services." She was wrong, one reader is enough to offer services. All you have to do is put some extra time in your schedule and set up a landing page. You have knowledge someone else wants.

Offering services is a great way to make money blogging.

5. Only have 1-3 Advertisements

Advertisements are a great way to earn extra money blogging. However ads really take away from a blog when they are all over the place. I have a few ad's on my page. One ad under every post and one in my side bar. These ads are enough to earn me a little extra income but they don't push readers away.

I recommend only having 1-3 advertisements on each page of your blog.

6. Don't Post Just To Post

I mentioned this earlier in the post, that some bloggers feel the need to have something new go up every single day. Don't do this. Posting every single day will not make you money blogging. The way you make money blogging is posting good content that is full of information and is actually giving something to your readers.

I only post 1 to 3 times a month depending. I have found sometimes the weeks I only post once I get the most traffic and make the most money blogging.

7. Stay Educated on Blogging

I think a great way to stay educated on blogging is to take courses, and I personally think that my min-course 30 days to blog success is a great way for newbie bloggers, or people who want to blog to learn how to build a profitable money making blog from nothing in a month.

If you are interested in turning your tiny blog (or not yet blog) into a full time business in just 30 days, my mini course "BLOX" is for you!

I know many people want to start making more money before summer comes around so they can travel with their families and take of extra time off while its warm but they have no idea where to start.  BLOX success is a day-by-day guide to starting a blog, and making money with it oh and now it comes with new extras:

One-on-one coaching ($200 Value).
Step-by-step guide for how to become a successful blogger. ($150 Value)
Access to a private group only for people who have read the book. ($190 Value)

I see clients all the time who stopped seeing growth in social media, and blog traffic. I often ask them, "Do you keep on SEO information?" "Do you use Pinterest as a learning tool to get help from other bloggers?" and I often get the response of "no". The reason that people fail as bloggers is because they don't stay up to date on their affiliates, good ways to advertise, and how to optimize their social medias.

To make money blogging you need to stay educated on all things blogging!

8. Build an Email List

As a blogger the only audience you own is your email list. Every person on that list is there because you did something right to make them stay. All the people on your email list want to hear what you have to say. To make money and especially a passive income as a blogger you need to build your email list so you have someone to offer a product or service to. A great way to build your email list is to put a call to action in every one of your social media bios and offer content upgrades to people who sign up.

A call to action in your social media bio could sound something like this, "Learn how I keep 3 growing toddlers going to be regularly every night (link to sign up to your email list here). Then you would set up an automation through your email service  (I recommend MailerLite they are free and offer automation) to send them an email with your tips after they sign up.

9. SELL A PRODUCT

From almost the start of my blogging career I have offered things like printable blog schedules, and mini-guides that people could purchase. In the beginning this was just a 10% portion of my income because I had no idea how to market them to my audience.

After about a year and a half this is now how I make a little more than half of my monthly income. which to me is the perfect amount because it allows me to have a diverse income. I know that if one day suddenly 99.9% of my buyers stop buying, I will still have enough money to support my family and not have to go back to work.

I have had the most success with my mini-course which is helpful to get a lot of people a way more information than this blog post, however this is because of the quality information it provides for bloggers or people who want to start a blog.

If you want more information on how to generate a FULL-TIME INCOME online with a blog, photography business, or Etsy shop I know that 30 Days to Blog Success can help you. I think that if you are interested in making a full time income online and getting to work from home there is no better resource on the market.

10. Start a blog if you want to blog!

I know that you may have seen this blog post shared somewhere and were like, "How in the world can she make that much money blogging?" I promise you it is not as hard or expensive as you think it may be.

You may be thinking, "I have nothing to write about" or "I would have no idea how to start blogging" or a plethora of other reasons why you "can't" start a blog. I promise you can blog about ANYTHING and blogging can change your life as long as you do one thing: have a self-hosted blog.

I literally made no money blogging until I became self hosted with WordPress, so if you want to do it you need to be self hosted. Don't worry it is far less intimidating than it sounds I will walk you through everything step-by-step in my FREE how to start a profitable e-mail course.

11. STAY TRUE TO YOURSELF

I see so many bloggers post about everything under the sun even though they really want to be a fashion blogger, or they really want to be a mommy blogger. To make money blogging you need to stay true to yourself. Talking about something you don't care about to get people to click affiliate links, or get more traffic makes your blog seem more unprofessional and boring.

You are going to be more likely to have a good audience that sticks around if you stay true to yourself. Your audience is there for you not who you pretend to be.
